Brown woven water hyacinth collar around the base of a decorated Christmas tree

How to Measure for a Christmas Tree Collar

Measure the widest part of your Christmas tree stand, then check the clearance under the lowest branches. Tree height alone does not determine whether a collar fits. A 7.5-foot or 9-foot tree can use a different stand from another tree of the same height.

Laquedecraft's Handwoven Water Hyacinth Christmas Tree Collar listing gives guidance for tree stand bases measuring 21–23 inches, approximately 53.3–58.4 cm. Treat that as the product's stand-fit guidance, not as a measurement of the collar's inner opening or overall height. Check your setup before ordering.

What you need to measure

  • A tape measure or ruler.
  • Your tree stand, with all feet or supports extended into their normal position.
  • The space beneath the tree's lowest branches.
  • A note of any watering access or controls you need to reach.

Step 1: Measure the widest part of the stand

Measure from the furthest point on one side of the stand to the furthest point on the other. Include projecting feet or supports rather than measuring only the central bowl or trunk socket. Check a second direction too, especially if the stand is not circular.

Write down the largest measurement in inches or centimeters. For a rectangular footprint, record both width and depth. These measurements help you explain your setup if you need fit advice.

Step 2: Compare your measurements with the product guidance

Listed guidance Approximate equivalent What it refers to
21–23 inches 53.3–58.4 cm The tree stand base range described on the product page.

For example, a stand measuring 22 inches at its widest point falls within the listed range. That is a useful first check, but it does not confirm lower-branch clearance or access around your particular stand.

If your stand is outside the stated range, has an unusual shape or is close to a boundary, contact Laquedecraft with its measurements and a photo. Do not select a collar by tree height alone or assume a smaller stand will necessarily create the fit you want.

Step 3: Check the space beneath the branches

Measure from the floor to the lowest branches around the base, checking more than one side. Make sure the collar will not push against the branches or interfere with the way the stand supports the tree. If you need the collar's exact height or opening dimensions, request those details before ordering rather than estimating them from a photograph.

Step 4: Plan access and assembly

The collar is a decorative cover around an existing stand. The stand must support the tree independently. Follow the assembly instructions supplied with your tree and collar; do not alter the stand to make a decorative cover fit.

For a live tree, plan how you will reach the water reservoir. For an artificial tree, keep access to controls and cables in mind and follow its manufacturer's instructions. Arrange gifts so they do not prevent the access your setup needs.

Choose a finish and plan seasonal storage

The Laquedecraft collar is handwoven from water hyacinth and comes in Brown Wash or Natural Color. Compare the product photographs with your room and ornaments. Small differences in tone and weave are part of the natural material and handmade finish.

After the holidays, the collar folds flat for storage. Make sure it is dry before putting it away, ready for the next season.

Frequently asked questions

Will it fit my 7.5-foot or 9-foot tree?

Height alone cannot answer that. Measure the widest stand footprint and lower-branch clearance, then compare them with the product information.

Is the collar a tree stand?

No. It conceals an existing stand and does not support the tree.

Is 21–23 inches the collar's opening diameter?

The product page describes this as tree stand base guidance. It should not be treated as a confirmed inner-opening measurement.
